Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve
Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve has incorporated the Family Science
program as a component of a grant received from the Intel Corporation
because we feel it is such a valuable tool for introducing science to
children of all ages and for making a connection with members of the
Hispanic community that can be difficult to contact. The Family Science
Night held at the school gives our staff the perfect opportunity to
interact with the entire school community. We will offer the Family
Science workshop again for teachers from the three schools
we are working with under the grant.
Abbott Laboratories
The Abbott Fund is partnering with the Foundation for Family Science to help families understand more about science, encourage youngsters to be more proficient in the subject and attract more potential scientists to the field. Locally, the Abbott Fund is sponsoring a night of science for Linden Elementary School, the division's adopted school, on Wednesday evening, January 21. This fun-filled event allows students, parents, teachers and Abbott volunteers to explore the wonders of science through activities that prompt children to experiment with everything from pop corn container design to predicting the aerodynamics of balloons, newspapers and other common objects.(Selection from Abbott Newsletter) |
