The Music of Larry Jones

The Woods of Nova Scotia

I grew up in the woods of Nova Scotia,
Chasing cotton-tail rabbits through the snow.
Climbing trees that seemed to reach the heavens
And fishing in the rivers deep and cold.

Watching Northern Lights blaze across the winter sky,
And catching lightning bugs on summer evenings.
Living close to nature, but always wondering why
The forest had a teardrop in her eye.

Then one day I said I've got to find a better life,
And I went searching for that land of paridise.

I returned to my home in Nova Scotia,
After travelling all around this land.
Welcomed by old friends and loving family,
It sure felt good to be back there again.

But now the city lights glare across the winter sky,
And traffic races by on summer evenings.
And it don't take much thinking, to know the reason why
The forest had a teardrop in her eye.

I recall the day I said I've got to find a better life,
And I went searching for that land of paridise.

But some times when I'm feeling low,
I wish to God that I could go
Back home to the woods of Nova Scotia.

And I realize that time is change,
And I know the reason why
The forest ... had a teardrop in her eye.
